Troubleshooting Guide for Router with No Internet Connection

Troubleshooting Guide for Router with No Internet Connection

If you are having trouble with your internet connection, follow these simple steps to try and resolve the issue. If the problem persists, you can report it to the IT team by creating a ticket.

1. Check the Cables

  • Ensure all cables are connected properly:
    • The power cable is plugged into the router and the electrical outlet.
    • The Ethernet cable is securely connected between the router and modem (if applicable).

2. Restart the Router

  • Turn off the router by unplugging their power cables.
  • Wait 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cables back in and turn on the modem first.
  • Wait for the modem lights to stabilize (this can take a few minutes).
  • Turn on the router and wait for it to restart.

3. Check for Light Indicator

  • Look for the Internet or WAN light on the router:
    • Green or Blue: Good sign, internet should be working.
    • Red or Off: There is an issue with the internet connection.

4. Test Your Devices

  • Check if the problem affects all devices (phone, laptop, ):
    • If one device is not working, try restarting that device.
    • If all devices are affected, continue troubleshooting.

5. Check Wi-Fi Settings

  • Make sure your Wi-Fi is turned on:
    • On your device, go to the Wi-Fi settings and ensure it’s connected to your router’s network.
    • Forget the network and reconnect if necessary.

6. Move Closer to the Router

  • If your Wi-Fi signal is weak, try moving your device closer to the router to see if it improves the connection.
